Benedykt Hac- a director of the Department of Operational Oceanography and floating R/V IMOR laboratory. A graduate of Naval Academic Institution; has been related to sea for 37 years. An international A class hydrographer. From 1982 to 2000 he worked on ORP Heweliusz, a hydrographic vessel. For 10 years he has been a captain of that vessel. In 2000 he was reassigned to the reserve forces as a lieutenant commander. The captain of “Doktor Lubecki” and “Imor” research vessel. He holds a diploma of marine vessels with displacement tonnage of 3000GT. For 12 years he has been running a research project entitled “The monitoring of seabed contamination in the area of shipwrecks residue” which covered 24 shipwrecks in total, lying mainly on the waters sensitive to contamination, for instance, the Bay of Gdansk including Stuttgart and Franken shipwreck (together with MARE Foundation). From the beginning of his hydrographic career very interested in the search and study of shipwrecks not only on the polish waters. In 2008 he ran an expedition which aim was to find the ORP Orzel submarine in the North Sea; in July, 2011 he organized and ran the archeological- lifesaving expedition in the North Sea entitled “Wiatrem gnane” (wind-blown) resulting in the study of two wooden XVIII shipwrecks and lifting of 12 iron cannons. The co-organizer of all 7 expeditions of Santi Odnalezc Orla (Santi Find the Eagle). A member of the Association of Marine Hydrographers of the Republic of Poland and The Explorers Club.
