Immi Wallin is an enthusiast of Maritime History and Maritime Archaeology. She has been a diver since she was 12 years old. Working within diving industry from the beginning of ‘80s, first as a scientific diver and then in the diver training field. Now back to what she loves the most; exploring the wrecks in the Baltic Sea and running an underwater research company SubZone.
Immi Wallin is an ichtyonomist and General Manager of SubZone Oy. She has over 30 years’ experience of scientific technical diving and underwater technology. She has captain license for vessels up to 500brt at the Baltic Sea and is the captain of SubZone’s research vessel. Immi Wallin is a ROV pilot and sonar technician as well as technical diving instructor trainer with 20+ years’ experience. Immi has extensive experience of developing wreck documentation techniques as well as underwater habitat survey techniques.
Numerous very interesting, well preserved, pristine wrecks have been found, documented and identified in the Baltic Sea during the expeditions run by Immi with her skilled, dedicated team. These include man-of-war and trader wrecks from 18th and 19th century, submarines and other warships from the WW1 and WW2 and various other wrecks with highly interesting history.
Immi has been offering the fieldwork infrastructure and logistics thru SubZone Oy for various underwater archaeological projects working closely with the Finnish National Board of Antiquities and the Estonian National Heritage Board.
