Director of the SAR Service Maciej Zawadzki

Director, Maritime Search and Rescue Service.

Maciej Zawadzki was born in 1972 in Gdańsk, where he enrolled at the Gdynia Maritime University, becoming a student of the Faculty of Navigation's maritime transport course.

He has a number of specialist qualifications: ocean-going motorboat master, yacht master, Polish Motorboat and Water Ski Association (PZMWINW) instructor, motorboat sports instructor, KDP/CMAS*** scuba diver, paraglider pilot.

He knows everything about rescuing people at sea. He gained experience as an officer and captain of a rescue vessel.

For over two years, he has been commanding the work of Polish SAR services (Search And Rescue), which deal with castaways searching and taking-up from water or rescue units, qualified medical assistance for castaways, transport to land of injured people (castaway, wounded, diseased), firefighting on vessels, emergency towing and combating the threat and pollution at sea.

Only this year, the Polish services SAR participated in over 300 rescue operations.

In 2018, under the Polish President's decision, he received a silver medal for long service.

His interests include IT, diving, horseback riding and tourism.
