Piotr Kukliński is a Marine Ecologist at the Institute of Oceanology within the Polish Academy of Sciences as well as a Scientific Associate at the Natural History Museum in London. Recently he has professionally focused on taxonomy and systematics of polar bryozoans, factors controlling biodiversity as well as skeletal geochemistry of invertebrates. His research takes him to places that are mostly in polar and temperate areas. Beside his work as a marine ecologist, he is passionate about diving and underwater photography. This love has taken him to oceans all over the world. Besides the Arctic, his diving logbook includes other such remote destinations as the Antarctic, Aleutian Islands and many uninhabited tropical Pacific atolls. In a number of these pristine locations he was probably the first human being ever to venture underwater.
