The legend says that a submarine was in an accident and settled at the bottom of the sea. The crew, trying to save the ship, went down the bottom, until it penetrated the base of the Hel Peninsula. For many years, the so-called ‘shallow U-baot was referred to as U-346 and the above history was willingly reproduced by successive crowds of divers.
In May 2013, Baltictech definitely corrected this history.
During the dives, photographic and video material was collected documenting the current state of the wreck and elements of construction, which allowed for the final identification of the wreck and caused the need to change its incorrect name from U-346 to U-272. The final identification of the wreck on the basis of the above-mentioned materials and historical studies was made by Daniel Pastwa.
